Among the Hidden #1

On Monday, we begin reading the novel Among the Hidden. Each week, I will post a question or two for you to respond to by that Friday. This weeks questions are due on Oct. 30th.
  1. The author doesn't specify the setting for Among the Hidden. Where do you think it takes place? When do you think it takes place?
  2. Luke's family is terrified of the government. Why? What are some of the tactics the government employs to make ordinary families like his feel powerless?

    1.I think it takes places in Cannada maybe around the 1890s
    2.his famliy is scare that the goverment is going to take luke away.the goverment only lets famliys have two children and they have three.

    1. I think it takes place in Germany. Probibly in the 1900s.
    2. Because the law says that you cannot have mores than 2 children and in his family has 3 kids. They dont want the Goverment to know about Luke.

    1.I think that it takes place in one of the more northern states like North Dakota, Montana, or Minnesota. I think it takes place in the mid 1900's like, 1956 or 1968. 2. Because they are afraid that if the Population Police come to their door that they will take Luke away and they will get arrested for keeping another child in the house.Some of the tactics that they employ are that they are bigger then them and that they can do things to their families and arrest the ones that break that certain law!!

    2.I think his family was scared because the goverment could send people to search their house
    and find Luke they take their houses and they can take thei property.

    1.I think it was in the Midwest. i think it happened in the 1960's.2. Because they'll get in a lot of trouble and take Luke away. Because they have three children instead of two which they are supposed to have.

    1.I think the story takes place in Europe during the late 1900's.

    2.Luke's family is terrified of the goverment because of Luke. The goverment made a law that a family could have no more than two children, because of population. If a women gave birth to a child after she had two you had to give it away.Luke's mom kept Luke so whenever someone came to the house Luke had to hide because they wanted nobody to know about Luke.

    1.The setting is in China.I think the time is in the 1960's.The laws that the goverment are making are after people have 2 babies they are to stop having them. They have to kill them.

    2. If they weren't breaking the law I don't think they would be as scared as they are. It isn't a fair law,but it's the law, and anyone could turn them in at any time if they found out what was going on.

    I think that it is in England about the time of 1930-1940.
    Because if they find Luke they will kill him, for being the first child. the Goverment taxed them for all of their money and took all of their hogs.

    1. I think it takes place in a foreign country. It would be a place like China where they can only have 2 kids also. I think it happens around 1960.
    2. They are afraid of the governemnt because they have more than 2 kids and they might see the third one. The government only lets you have 2 kids.
